My Story
Personal and Academic Background
I'm a daughter of Ghanaian immigrants, wife, mom, sister, auntie, and cousin to family members from Ghana, across the U.S. and Mexico and Europe.
I am a product of Montgomery County Public Schools. After graduating from Montgomery Blair High School's Communication Arts Program, I enrolled and graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park. I earned my Juris Doctorate at Howard University School of Law. I currently reside in the Fairland area of Silver Spring with my husband Terrill and daughter Adjoa.
Professional Background
After two trial judicial clerkships, I served as Assistant State's Attorney for six years before going into private practice. I am currently Managing Attorney of The North Law Group, LLC and have been active in various bar associations. Since 2023, I serve as Delegate for District 14 to ensure we have laws that promote safer, stronger, and healthier communities for all.
In Annapolis, I serve on the Ways and Means Committee, Local Revenues Subcommittee, and Early Childhood Subcommittee. I am also a member of the Legislative Black Caucus, Legislative Latino Caucus, Transit Caucus, and the Women Legislators of Maryland. When I am not in session, I am serving individuals in my capacity as a lawyer in criminal defense, family law, wills and trusts and business litigation.
Community Background
I have served my community for over 15 years, with leadership roles that included being Chair of the Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board, Co-Chair of the Reimagining Public Safety Task Force.
