We do not collect financial account information, medical information, or any other sensitive personal data through our volunteer sign-up form or SMS program.

 

3. How We Collect Your Mobile Number

We collect mobile phone numbers through our online volunteer sign-up form hosted on the Campaign website. At the point of collection, an unchecked SMS consent checkbox presents the following disclosures before any message is sent:

  • The identity of the sender (Friends of Bernice Mireku-North)

  • The types of messages to be sent (campaign updates, election reminders, volunteer coordination, and get-out-the-vote notifications)

  • That message frequency varies

  • That message and data rates may apply

  • How to opt out (reply STOP)

No SMS message is sent until the supporter affirmatively checks the consent box and submits the form. Consent is not a condition of participation in any Campaign activity.

  • Sending SMS messages to opted-in supporters regarding campaign updates, election reminders, volunteer coordination, and get-out-the-vote notifications

6. No Third-Party Sharing

Friends of Bernice Mireku-North does not sell, rent, or share your mobile phone number or SMS consent data with any third party for marketing or commercial purposes. Text message opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

 

Your mobile number may be shared with our SMS platform provider solely to deliver messages on our behalf. Such providers are contractually prohibited from using your information for any other purpose.

 

7. Data Retention

SMS opt-in and opt-out consent records are retained for a minimum of four (4) years from the date of consent or the date of the last message, whichever is later. 1. SMS Program Description

Friends of Bernice Mireku-North ("Campaign") operates a registered political SMS messaging program. We send recurring SMS messages exclusively to supporters and volunteers who have provided express written consent through our online volunteer sign-up form.

 

Messages sent through this program include:

  • Campaign updates and candidate news

  • Election reminders and get-out-the-vote notifications

  • Volunteer coordination and event information

  • Civic engagement updates related to Maryland District 14

 

We do not send commercial marketing or promotional messages through this program.

 

2. How to Opt In

You opt in to receive SMS messages from the Campaign by completing the online volunteer sign-up form on our website and affirmatively checking the SMS consent checkbox. The checkbox is unchecked by default and clearly discloses:

  • The sender identity (Friends of Bernice Mireku-North)

  • The types of messages to be received

  • That message frequency varies

  • That message and data rates may apply

  • How to opt out (reply STOP)

  • How to request help (reply HELP)

6. Message & Data Rates

Msg & data rates may apply. The Campaign does not charge for SMS messages. Contact your wireless carrier for information about applicable rates.
